Nadia Ambarsom
Anesthesia Residency Applicant
New York Medical College - M4
Hi! I’m Nadia Ambarsom, a fourth-year medical student at New York Medical College, set to earn my M.D. this May.
I’m originally and proudly from Queens, New York, and my path to medicine has been anything but traditional. I grew up working alongside my sisters in my father’s restaurant, where I learned early the value of hard work, teamwork, and community. After graduating from SUNY Albany for undergraduate studies, I joined the NYC Teaching Fellows Program, earning my Master’s in Teaching while working full-time in underserved public schools across the city. Soon after, I’d decide it was time to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a physician.
Now in medical school, after a long, wild ride, I am honored to have the opportunity to apply to this prestigious specialty. To me, the field of anesthesia is a miracle of modern medicine. The ability to calmly and safely support a patient through even the most complex and invasive surgeries - and then bring them back to wakefulness and comfort - seems, in my opinion, almost superhuman. I am humbled by the idea that I might one day bear that responsibility for my patients.
Building a career as an anesthesiologist is more than I ever could have imagined for myself, thank you so much for making my dreams come true!
Outside of medicine, I love yoga, biking, hiking with my two dogs, and exploring new vegetarian restaurants around New York with my twin sister.

I am currently enrolled in a 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training, with certification expected by December 2025. I hope to be able to next year lead my co-residents and anesthesia team in daily or weekly yoga and wellness classes.
